Etienne Ruffieux

Etienne Ruffieux is a senior designer with 20 years of experience in product design and product development, and has introduced expertise in the Swiss watch industry. Known for creativity and innovation, and have a good understanding of the development steps of new products, from sketch ideas to 3D drawings and technical plans.


Etienne has been working in the Swiss watchmaker industry for several luxury brands as Designer and Product Director. He has previously designed for Swiss manufacturers in luxury fields and created for Ebel, Zenith, Gucci Group, Parmigiani Fleurier, Reuge, Les Frères Rochat, and as a free-lancer. Etienne was born in Switzerland–studying architecture in Switzerland and then Product Design at the Art Center College of Design Europe and Pasadena USA.

Etienne shows how innovative design could embrace new technologies and materials to rethink traditional structures in watchmaking. His design, full of sensitivity, is all about modern proportions, pure construction, and new shapes. It is often characterized as minimalist and elegant. Etienne is focused on 3D and exploring new shapes, mastering the production process to give life to the piece of art. In his universe, which is not limited to watches or men, design is defined as a state of mind: objects must tell stories and vibrate the heart of the person wearing the object, whether its jewelry, watch, or accessories.

The product astronomer series jointly developed with AGELOCER is designed through Etienne's expertise in 3D technology and exploration of new forms, combined with his observation of the interaction between nature and humans, to construct a moon phase watch that empathizes with humans and nature.

Panoramic moon phase design



Astronomer watch is inspired by the sun, moon and stars, recreating the eternal relationship between astronomical phenomena and time. The stars are shining in the azure blue galaxy night sky, the moon phase on the wrist is constantly changing with the passage of time, and the bright moon reciprocates from profit to loss. The panoramic moon phase design enlarges the traditional moon phase watch to the entire dial. The 3D gold sculpted moon surface is uneven and the moon sea and the crater are in sight.
